The break out DJ/producer of 2011 is hands down, Lawrence, Kansas’ Morri$. He’s a huge Diplomat’s fan and devoted ladies man who puts forth those staples in his music wholeheartedly. Philesciono” Morri$” Canty’s tracks live underwater in a world where Cam’ron is King Aquaman and school’s of blonde, brunette and ginger mermaids named Ariel swim freely. How I was introduced to Morri$’ music is now a story I always eagerly tell to those I expose to his sound. Via email he expressed his interest in a mix I played for him earlier last year in March during SXSW @ The FADER Fort and how a hometown buddy of his made music dubbed, Goombawave that he felt was similar to my taste. He was more than correct! I heard Rashida Jones for the first time and lost my mind for the few short minutes it bumped in my headphones. I replied, got connected and booked Morri$ on the spot for BPM 2011 and the rest is history. Since providing Morri$ with his NYC live debut, he’s appeared on many credible music/lifestyle blogs and DJ mixes including XLR8R, High Snobiety, Mishka and Mess Kid x Nicky Digital. A bright future is ahead for Morri$, indeed. I wish him well!

NIKKO is the underdog DJ/producer with much bite! I consider him the Prince of The Bronx, as far Future Bass music is concerned. Initially, I was floored by his live set debut at FULL SERVICE earlier this year and never got back up. NIKKO’s got an ear for weird and progressive dance music that is accessible to any dancefloor or pair of headphones. Keep an ear out for this college kid who’s always focused on his next big original song, remix or DJ set. Breaking out at this years Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, I surely forsee NIKKO as the next generation of New York influencers in music, radio and even martial arts! Old Money is by far the tightest eccentric Hip Hop duo from NYC and so much more! They’re beyond MCs but represent every element that completes their genetic-creative make up to the fullest. Old Money produces Global Bass music that is conscious yet fun. They cleverly touch on social reform and politics as well as “that nigga shit” to keep it accessible and real. Their original content often consists of universal everyday, around the way jams with hints of a bigger picture in mind. Old Money is intelligent but they don’t prove to be better than you but more so refined and don’t mind sharing sentiments of their knowledge leading to the light at the end of the tunnel.
