Folk & Stress
Brothers. Emcees. Artists?

A pair of New York native sons hailing from LI, these boys hope to uphold the long tradition of the New York Emcees that have both lyrical credibility as well as musical accessibility.

On the track, Folk handles most of the production duties and chops up a wide variety of samples, while they both lace impressive flows and sharp word play over their soulful beats. With punch lines more comedy than conscious, they hope to stimulate thinking in their content without being overbearing or preachy. Influenced by not only by New York hip-hop, they credit their sound as much to Jay and Dipset as they do to folk and 70's music. Preconceptions be damned! Shit is pretty fresh. They legitimately like
making music, and it can be heard on every track they make. For better or for worse, these doods are full-time emcees, doing whatever they can to scrape by to support their music. Hov said it best, can't knock the hustle. The Vane Crew sat down with the two of them at their crib and make-shift recording studio in Long Island where we talked independent distribution, the division of hip-hop, Jethro Tull, and white rappers not on VH1.
