Electric Zoo 2011 Coverage
I was invited to document Electric Zoo, a 3 day electronic music festival located on Randals Island right outside of the city. Though it was just a lot of young-drugged-out-weirdos prancing around the festival was quite an experience. I’ve always slept on electronic music and recently, due to being friends with @djlawrencelee, I have been exposed to a lot of new house, dubstep, techno etc and had been slowly getting into it. Law always told me that you will never be able to fully understand/enjoy this kind of music without experiencing it live first. So I went…
- MOBY was quite possibly one of the best performances at Electric Zoo
- Had a chance to sit down and chop it up with Crookers, nice guys.
- Tiesto, and the crowd goes wild.
- I thought David Guetta was one of the weakest performances/sets on day 2.
- I saw DJ Snoopadelic on the line-up but did not realize that it was actually Snoop Dogg until he was on stage DJing and rapping. He was a pretty awful DJ but the fact that it was Snoop made for a good time.
- Cromeo obviously killed it.
- Afrojack, best in show!
It was a bit hard to fully enjoy myself with a 5D Mark II around my neck so hopefully by next year Canon will take that into consideration and offer a smaller solution for high quality photos. #makeithappenCanon

On Fashion’s Night Out and Social Darwinism

Unless you have been living in a cave for the last few years, you undoubtedly noticed that this past Thursday marked the third annual Fashion’s Night Out, a joint initiative by Vogue and the CFDA to help promote full-price retail by way of throwing lavish parties and getting revelers (including, but not limited to, industry heads, models and prospective everyday consumers) really, really fucked up. Much like the Fourth of July, Halloween, New Years Eve, your 21st birthday and any other day whereby humans spend an inordinate amount of time and capital plotting a day of celebration, for most (read: those aforementioned prospective everyday consumers–industry heads and models always have fun) it’s a complete and utter let down.
Take, for example, the thousands of pathetic souls missing all sorts of chromosomes who showed up at that sorry excuse for a retailer “Dash.” Really? You didn’t think that shit would get shut down when there were thousands of you romping around SoHo, desperate to touch–nay, merely see–one of those talentless, frumpy, surgically enhanced Geico cavewomen? You’re completely useless and reassure me that no matter how difficult life may get at times, I am going to be just fine.

Wacom Inkling

Dear designer and illustrator friends, Wacom just announced a new addition to their product line that lets you physically sketch on a piece of paper and transfer onto an editable digital medium on your computer. Game changer! Well at least in theory it is. I’m always skeptical about technologies that seem “revolutionary” and only tend to believe it when I see it in action. But then again if I trusted any company to create something like this it was definitely be Wacom. Waiting…
