Murakami Retrospective
Monday, March 17, 2008

An upcoming Brooklyn Museum retrospective of the work of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami will coincide with the launch of another collaboration between Marc Jacobs and Murakami for Louis Vuitton (MJ is Creative Director at LV). The collabo is said to feature a newly designed camouflage pattern.
The pattern doesn't excite me, the exhibition does. Check it out. April 5th - July 13, 2008. The Brooklyn Museum

Spring 2008 Jewelry Collection
Friday, March 07, 2008

Pirates have shaped our modern cultural landscape more than any other figure. Be it pirating illegal music and software, to bootlegging media or straight knocking off luxury brand goods, pirates and hackers have been at the center of cultural debate.
Taking this ethos, from the depths of a New York workshop, Vane has discovered a treasure of buried vintage chains. Stolen from eras past, they revived 5 styles of chain, and complemented the collection with an original pendant and tee shirts.
Keeping in line with the concept of old fashioned local craftsmanship made relevant again, Vane has updated vintage chain to make fresh and new what once was lost.
Click here to view and shop full collection.

I wanted to thank MissB and Youssef for doing a kick ass job in front of the camera. You guys ROCK for getting through the shoot that I decided to have on the roof on what seemed like the coldest day all year!

Santogold - L.E.S. Artistes
Thursday, March 06, 2008
Santogold's first video. You'll be hearing more from this girl as her name has been buzzing all over the music blogs since last summer and her debut album drops sometime this month. She's from Brooklyn and in my opinion is one of the most innovative artists coming out of New York at the moment. Produced by Diplo (of M.I.A. fame), Switch and others she's got this synth-electro-punk sound down to a tee.
Here's her myspace. Check out "Creator" and "Shove It"
